The Future Melting Pot prides itself on being inclusive when recruiting young people from diverse backgrounds, including from the disabled community, as we believe in strength through unity.
Since piloting the Kickstart Scheme in June 2021, 33.78% of our current Kickstarters are from BAME backgrounds, totalling just over one-third of all company employees, bringing an array of unique skills and qualifications to use whilst working with us.
Working closely with the Department for Work and Pensions, The Future Melting Pot is proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer, which provides a fair, inclusive and accessible recruitment process within the company. This has opened a range of opportunities for a disabled person or a person with a long-term health condition in our workplace.
Often, disadvantaged groups are not easily accessible in traditional recruitment processes and are unintentionally overlooked.
According to a report published in 2020 by the City of London and Bridge Group on Social Mobility Taskforce, employees from underprivileged backgrounds take 25% longer to progress through recruitment, despite no evidence of poorer performance or credentials.
However, The Future Melting Pot is looking to change this. By becoming a Certified Gateway provider for the Kickstart Scheme, TFMP has taken on board a variety of Kickstarters from all walks of life throughout Birmingham and the wider country , forming a team to reflect the true diversity of the city. TFMP believes that everyone should receive the opportunity to access education, work and training opportunities, and we are delivering on that belief.
